Bundle up in the Windswept Cowl, the perfect accessory for cold temperatures and chilly days. Get swept away in this easy, breezy project designed for beginners and enjoyed by crocheters of all levels.
If you enjoy mindless repeats and a satisfyingly quick crochet project, this is the pattern for you! This crochet pattern uses bulky weight yarn and a dense ribbed crochet texture, so it works up quickly into a nice squishy cowl without being too heavy.

The inspiration for the Windswept Cowl all began with the function – I wanted a cowl that would be cozy on the windiest, chilliest winter days. This fold over crochet cowl gives you double thickness near your face and endless versatility. Style your cowl folded down part way or keep it unfolded for extra length near your face or to wear more relaxed around your neck. It’s the perfect winter accessory to add to your own closet, or make a few to give as gifts!
The Windswept Cowl was made to be an easy, breezy project you keep coming back to.

Let’s Talk Yarn!
This is my third design with Lion Brand’s Hue + Me yarn! I keep reaching for this yarn for it’s phenomenal range of wearable colors, durability and washability, and it’s so soft and comfortable to wear. A true bulky (5) weight yarn can be tricky to find, and this one feels just right – where your crochet project works up quickly and isn’t too thick or heavy.
You’ll need 2 skeins of Hue + Me yarn for this pattern, or about 250 yards of your favorite bulky (5) weight yarn. I used the colorway, Pink Earth, for this cowl but there are 36 gorgeous colors to choose from. You can also find the Windswept Cowl kit from Lion Brand, which includes the yarn and pattern PDF for this project!

You’ll also need…
There’s a few other things you’ll need for this pattern! You’ll need a US K/10.5 (6.5mm) Crochet Hook (these are my fav!) or the hook size needed to get gauge as listed in the pattern. You’ll also want to have scissors and a tapestry needle.
