Update:The CAL has now closed, but you can still make your very own Pebble Cardi! Grab the pattern on Etsy or Ravelry!
I can’t believe we’re finally doing this…. It’s time to get ready for the first-ever official Woods and Wool Crochet Along!! I couldn’t be more excited to have you here and to have one of my favorite patterns, the Pebble Cardi, for our first CAL together. Keep on reading to get all the details!
What is a Crochet Along (CAL)?
A crochet along, or CAL, is basically where a group of makers will crochet the same pattern together at the same time! This is the perfect place to make new friends, ask questions, and stay on track as we all work toward finishing the pattern together! For this CAL, we’ll all be making the Pebble Cardi.
CAL Schedule
This CAL will be taking place in October (which is my birthday month)! We’ll begin on October 1st and end on October 31st. Each week there will be a goal of how far to get in the pattern, though you’re free to go at your own pace!
You’re also more than welcome to get a headstart if you want to grab the pattern now and get going! Either way, I would highly recommend you have all your yarn ready to go by October 1st.
What You’ll Need:
Alrighty, this is the answer you’ve all been waiting for! For the CAL, you’ll need:
- The Pebble Cardi pattern, which you can get on Etsy here or Ravelry here!
- A 4mm/G crochet hook. Fun fact: I bought my second Furls Streamline Crochet hook JUST for this project. I decided that if I was going to make a whole cardigan, I was only going to use my favorite hook for it! Read why I love them so much here.
- Knit Picks Comfy Color Mist or Comfy Worsted Yarn. I’ve loved the Comfy Worsted yarn for years, and last year KnitPicks launched the Comfy Color Mist line which is the exact same base, but with some seriously gorgeous speckles! And guess what else? They just added a whole bunch of new colors to the Comfy Color Mist line! I can’t tell you how much I love these yarns, but don’t take my word for it! Grab your yarn from Knitpicks.com!
- This is a worsted weight yarn. Here’s the yardage you’ll need for each size: XS: 1,300 yds, S: 1,500 yds, M: 1,700 yds, L: 1,900 yds, XL: 2,100 yds, 2XL: 2,300 yds, 3XL: 2,500 yds, 4XL: 2,700 yds
- You’ll also need a tapestry needle and scissors (these are my fav!)
Some of the links in this post may be affiliate links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase.
How to Join the CAL:
This part is suuuper easy! There’s two ways you can take part in the CAL:
- Use the #PebbleCardiCAL hashtag on Instagram! Make sure you follow the hashtag so you can see everyone else’s progress! Bonus points if your account is public, because then I can share your posts!
- Join the Facebook group! Keep in mind that you MUST have purchased the pattern to join the group! This is fun space where you’ll really get to be a part of the community and also where I can help answer your questions on the pattern and we can get into the specific details!
FAQ
I’ve gotten some questions about the CAL, so I wanted to answer them all here!
How much does it cost?
It’s FREE! With this being my first CAL, I wanted to make sure it was open to everyone to participate. Please keep in mind that it still requires a ton of time and effort to put together and run a CAL, so I would love your support! Here are some other ways you can help support this CAL:
- Share it! Use the #PebbleCardiCAL hashtag and tag me @woodsandwool to let your friends know about the CAL. This is also how you win prizes!!
- Purchase your yarn and supplies through the links in this post! Using affiliate links is always a great way to support your favorite makers, because you don’t have to spend a penny extra and they get a small commission for each purchase through their link!
Will there be prizes?
You bet!! I am ecstatic about the prizes we’ll have for this CAL! I don’t want to give away too many details, but the CAL will feature prizes from some of my favs, like Furls Crochet, Knit Picks, Hickory Lane Handmade, SLP Made, and Fox and Philomene!
Make sure you use the #PebbleCardiCAL hashtag! Winners will be chosen each week from the makers who have used the hashtag to share their progress!
Is this CAL beginner-friendly?
YES!! The Pebble Cardi is the perfect project for your first crochet cardigan. Keep in mind, that you’ll want some experience with basic crochet stitches and pattern reading. And don’t worry – you’ll also have the Facebook group to help you out!
What sizes are included in the pattern?
The pattern includes instructions for women’s sizes XS-4XL.
Time to get your party on!
That’s it for now, friends! I hope this CAL feels like a real Pebble Cardi Party, or better yet – a Friday night spent in with your best maker friends. I am so excited to get to hang with you all in the Facebook group and make our cardis together! Hope to see you there!

Wondering what size you are wearing in the photo. I am usually in-between a small and med. Is it made bigger or more fitted?
woodsandwool says
I’m wearing a size Small. It’s on the fitted side, so I check your measurements with the finished size and if you’re still not sure – size up! 🙂
Mel Allen says
What is your normal dress size if you don’t mind me asking? I think we would be similar sizes.
woodsandwool says
That’s a tough one, because it all depends on the store for me when it comes to dress numbers! According to the Craft Yarn Council sizing and measurements, I am a size small which is the size I made my Pebble Cardi in!
Mel Allen says
What colour yarn did you use? 🙂
woodsandwool says
I used the color Foggy Beach!
