Meet the Moraine Blanket. Named after the material left behind after a glacier, the Moraine blanket features a stunning texture of ridges. This crochet ribbing is created with a unique combination of basic crochet stitches that results in the most sophisticated, gorgeous texture.
This pattern is more than just a blanket, for me – it’s “the one.” I’ve made so many blankets that I loooove, but I always knew if I had a baby I would make “the one.” This is the one. I’ve dreamed of it for years. A neutral color, stunning texture, and of course… I had to splurge on the yarn I used for it.
This blanket feels like an heirloom. It’s more than just a little baby blanket, in fact – this pattern is graded for sizes security (baby) – king! You’ll find exact yardages, stitch and row counts for all eight sizes in the pattern.
This will always be one of my favorite crochet designs & I hope you love it too.

Choosing the Perfect Yarn
I knew I wanted an extra special yarn for this blanket, and my search for the *perfect* yarn led me to one of my favorite yarn brands: Blue Sky Fibers. Sweater yarn is a wool and cotton blend, which can be really hard to find! I love this fiber blend because it’s soft, natural, and will wear well over time.
*Note on the yarn: Sweater was originally part of the Blue Sky Fiber’s sister brand called Spud and Chloe, but now it is under the Blue Sky Fiber brand. You might see Sweater under either brand, depending on the retailer.
Sweater can also be found in many local yarn stores! Try giving your local yarn store a call to see if they have it available so you can go see how beautiful it is in person. Many local yarn stores will be happy to order a blanket quantity for you if you’re looking for a specific color or need a large quantity.
I made another Moraine Blanket in this blue yarn from WeCrochet and it turned out beautifully. It’s a super soft blend of merino and acrylic – perfect for blankets! If you’re looking for something budget-friendly, I highly recommend checking it out!

The Moraine Blanket crochet pattern uses worsted weight yarn and you can easily substitute your favorite worsted weight yarn for this project! The blue Moraine Blanket that I made uses this gorgeous yarn from WeCrochet. Another yarn that would be great for this pattern is Wool Ease from Lion Brand. WeCrochet and Lion Brand are two of my favorite places to find beautiful, budget-friendly yarns!
You’ll find exact yardages for each size in the pattern so you can easily use any worsted weight yarn you like. And don’t forget to have a 4.5mm hook handy for this project! I used my one of my favorite hooks for this project.
