The Story of the Glacier Beanie
Every pattern is special and I’d love to share the story of the Glacier Beanie pattern with you. It all started on our trip to Alaska earlier this year. Surrounded by glaciers, mountains, and whales (my favorite!), I built my vision for the Glacier Beanie. It was the middle of summer, yet I was surrounded by wintery colors and knew I needed to create a classic, chic hat for winter. Slouchy, but not too slouchy. Cozy, but light enough it could be worn inside all day long.

The color that inspired it all.
This blue colorway is one piece of the inspiration behind the beanie. It’s a gorgeous hand dyed yarn, but guess what? I wrote this pattern for more accessible yarns, that you can find just about anywhere! The pattern comes with TWO recommended yarns, and can easily be worked in your favorite yarn as well.
But wait… It gets better (and bulkier).
Did you know this pattern also comes with a bulky variation?! Yep. Because what could be better than a bulky (and fast!) version of an amazing pattern? I love options and bulky yarns, so I wanted to make sure I created a bulky version of this pattern – and the best part is that it’s included in the Glacier Beanie pattern!
I hope you love this pattern as much as I do. Go grab your pattern here and be sure to use the #glacierbeanie hashtag and tag me at @woodsandwool on Instagram!
